Bhartiya Samaj welcomes Diwali back with a bang

Lamp lighting, cultural performances, Bollywood music and Indian food in abundance characterised Bhartiya Samaj’s Diwali celebrations in Auckland. The day was enlivened with culture, music and festive spirit.


Over 300 people celebrated the Festival of Lights organised by Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust on Saturday at Mt. Eden War Memorial Hall. It was after two years that the community came together to celebrate the Festival of Lights.


Dignitaries including India’s Honorary Consul Bhav Dhillon ji with his wife Ruby Dhillon ji; Nepal's Honorary Consul Dinesh Khadka ji; New Zealand Police's Ethnic Responsiveness Manager for Metro Auckland Jessica Phuang ji; MP Melissa Lee MP; MP Vanushi Walters ji; ACT Party Leader David Seymour ji; New Zealand Central Indian Association's president Narendra Patel ji; Auckland India Association's president Dhansukh Lal ji; Auckland Marathi Association's President Neha Nalawade ji; Fiji Girmit Foundation New Zealand Foundation's National President Krish Naidu ji; Pakistan Association of New Zealand's President Naveed Hamid ji; and our Patron Bruce Hucker ji expressed joy and excitement to celebrate Diwali with Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust.

It was a perfect opportunity to bring the community together and give our next generation a strong foundation of love, values, truth, culture, tradition and spirituality in New Zealand, on which they can build their lives.
