On 16th May 2020, Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust hosted its Senior Citizen virtual meeting, to suggest ways for the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of its Senior citizens.
We invited Ms. Manjusha Mane, a Mindfulness educator from East Tamaki Healthcare Group who discussed various ways to upkeep mental health, through breathing and meditation exercises. Benefits of mindfulness were explained that includes less stress and anxiety, improved sleeping pattern, feeling of self-acceptance and self-love, reducing reactivity and increased emotional intelligence with more joy. An exercise was practiced by the members to understand the benefits of mindfulness and then their feedback was taken about the effect of the exercise. The members found it very relaxing and energizing and were very excited to undertake mindfulness sessions in the future.
After this session, the meeting ended with a melodious & soulful song by Ms. Arpita Das who enlightened the mood and day of the participants. The day ended well with an objective of promoting happiness and wellbeing amongst senior members.
