Jeet Suchdev from Bhartiya Samaj received the Community Volunteer Award from the Puketapapa Local Board at its Community award event last week in Three Kings.
Mr Suchdev was of one the 13 people who were awarded for his work the seniors and contribution to the community through Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Organisation.
“I feel extremely grateful to have been recognised with this award, and I promise to continue the service towards the community,” Mr Suchdev told The Indian Weekender.
The work of community volunteers was appreciated and applauded by Puketapapa Local Board at the awards ceremony in Three Kings.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of our communities, and we are grateful for their selfless work in keeping our communities connected and their contribution to people’s wellbeing," Chair of Puketapapa Local Board Harry Doig said.
Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust was established by Jeet Suchdev in 2001 and has been successful in providing service to the senior of the community, helping and engaging them in activities, voicing their concerns and organising events for them.
Bhartiya Samaj has evolved to become a vibrant and thriving community organisation that serves the needs of the elderly and children and its work in migrant settlement and empowerment of women from South Asian communities has been richly recognised.
